WHO
WE ARE.
We are a
team of young people with a passion of serving the communities
we are serving. We are passionate about bringing change, making
a difference in the community and being leaders who most people
can emulate from.
In response
to the need that is evidently seen in the Eastlands community {Kimathi,
Bahati, Jeruaslem, Maringo and Uhuru} being unemployment, lack
of proper skills to look for jobs, lack of skills present
themselves well for job interviews and even have a place for
attachments after clearing college or university. A team of
three young energetic youth being Cathryne Agallo (21 Years),
Jose Njuki-Imwe Ngunjiri (26 Years) and Lillian Gloria Okumu (28
Years old) teamed up in December 2005 to take up the
challenge of opening the first ever unique community based
organization run and owned by the youth for the youth and for
the benefit of the whole neighborhood.
Ideally,
our thirteen (13) computers were donated to us by Computer for
Schools Kenya and IDRC who in return expected us to train and
equip the youth and the whole communities we support with ICT
knowledge. This was to reduce the very high crime rate,
unemployment, ignorance and lack of skills in job hunting and
accountability in there small business ventures.
PROCEDURE
The
areas of concern are quite massive and we have decided to move
into the respective areas in stages. We are now in the first
stage of training trainers who in return when time comes for
expansion we will involve the youth in those areas (Jericho,
Bahati, Jerusalem, Maringo, Uhuru) to participate and get
involved in piloting and spearheading the start of similar
centre in there respective regions or communities as a whole.
This will reduce the congestion and also create a sense of
belonging by creating self-employment and more sustainable
projects.
